Compact Power Partners with Danny Lipford in 2016

For years, we’ve watched Danny Lipford on Today’s Homeowner, we’ve heard from him on The Early Show and the Weather Channel and we’ve read his tips in Parade magazine and Better Homes and Gardens. Danny is one of the most influential home improvement experts in the world and that’s why we’re excited to partner with him this year.
Our partnership began in April and continues into the early fall with our focus on improving backyards across the country as part of the “4 Seasons of Home Ownership.” Most recently, Danny showed us how to create mulch using a chipper shredder, as part of a series of summer projects to take on before the weather turns cool. We provided a chipper shredder, much like the ones rented in more than 1,000 Home Depot locations nationwide, to Danny and his team who used it to create mulch in the comfort of a backyard. Sound simple? It is!
Making your own mulch is economically and environmentally friendly and only takes a few hours – from start to finish – to complete. It’s a great project regardless of whether you’re a first-time DIYer or a PRO. As featured on Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford, you’ll only need a few things for this project including:
- Chipper shredder from Compact Power Equipment Rental – you can order equipment through the app or by calling 888-COMPACT. Or, stop in to your local The Home Depot and check out the current inventory!
- Excess wood you’re trying to get rid of from your yard
- A landing mat to catch the mulch and make it easy to distribute
Once you have the appropriate equipment, set up your space while keeping safety top-of-mind. Position the chipper shredder and mat in an area far away from any pedestrian walkways and be sure the equipment is pointed down towards the ground. No one wants a rain shower of wood chips! Always protect yourself by standing behind the machinery and using personal protective equipment.
After your equipment is squared away, turn it on and begin loading the excess wood. The equipment will do the rest of the work for you. Once you’ve gone through your entire pile, consolidate the fresh mulch into one area and then manually distribute as needed throughout your property.
The Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford team has great suggestions on projects that will complement creating your own mulch. Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming broadcasts of the episode and let us know your favorite DIY projects!
