6 Ideas for Turning Your Boring Front Yard into a Comfortable Space

When it comes to backyards, most homeowners go all out to transform their space into one that's welcoming for family activities and social gatherings. But in all this outdoor merriment, front yard ideas often goes unnoticed. While your backyard can be used when more privacy is desired, why not utilize the space you have in front to feel more connected to your neighbors and community?

Here are a few front yard ideas that can make yours more inviting:

Use your porch area. No matter how big or small, your porch can invite company and be used as a cozy outdoor space. Include a bistro table and comfy chairs and before you know it your neighbor will be right over for a catchup chat.

Expand the patio. If you already have a patio, use the same materials to extend the area out into your yard to create a courtyard. Surrounded by beautiful flowers or other landscaping, this area can become your new spot for morning coffee.

Enclose your porch. If you want to take advantage of the outdoor space in the front of your home, enclosing your front porch is the way to go. Screened porches offer year-round use for homeowners in temperate climates.

Install a deck. A deck is a timeless addition that can add value to your home, whether it's separated or attached to your home. Visually balance the deck with bushes, flower beds or raised planters.

Build a courtyard. Putting up some walls can be a great way to get a little privacy while still allowing visitors easy access. Use materials that will complement the style of your home, such as brick, stucco or wood, or opt for attractive growing plants that double as a natural screen.

Create a gathering space with gravel. This is an easy way to enjoy your front yard space. Simply add some furniture for relaxing and you're set.
